This is a fairly major update, with about 50 bug fixes, new features and usability enhancements.
We worked with a number of beta testers to ensure the stability of the app. Hopefully, there is no more unexpected app crash. It is also recommended to update your macOS to Mojave 10.14.3 to ensure stability.
If you still experience app crashes or spinning beach ball, please contact us from this website.
One of the major new features in this release is the ability to choose metadata source. It can be configured under "Preferences... > Metadata".
By default, it'll use macOS Extended Attributes to store the metadata, things such as Finder tags, rating, artists, copyright, title, keywords, comments, etc. Metadata storage using Extended Attributes is compatible with Apple's iCloud, and are searchable using Finder.
If you want compatibility with 3rd party applications that use IPTC/XMP metadata, select "Use XMP" as the metadata source. If you use cloud services other than iCloud, you will want to select this option instead.
For the power users who want the "enchilada", select "Combine both settings". Please refer to the online Help file for more details on how to choose the metadata source.
The functionality of "Edit Metadata..." is expanded so that you can edit commonly used metadata. And don't forget, you can always edit the EXIF metadata in the Inspector by double clicking the metadata keys (Full Version upgrade required).
Another new feature is the ability to define custom labels. These are labels that correspond to Finder tags. It is now possible to define custom labels in ApolloOne that would match up with user defined tags in Finder. For example, you can now tag a file with the label "Important", and you can quickly filter the files in Finder with the "Important" tag.
There is also a new file filter panel in the Inspector. You can now quickly filter files with a combination of tags and ratings.
Hope you enjoy this new release!
